OTIF

Intergovernmental Organisation for International Carriage by Rail

International Cooperation

The aim of OTIF is to promote, improve and facilitate, in all respects, international traffic by rail as defined in Article 2 § 1 of COTIF.

The effective and efficient achievement of OTIF’s aim depends, among other factors, on close cooperation with relevant international intergovernmental organisations.

Close international cooperation also means that international organisations and associations, experts, academics and researchers in particular, can become involved as stakeholders in OTIF’s work.  To this end, the Secretariat has adopted an effective, inclusive, non-discriminatory and transparent framework policy, the Recommendation on involving stakeholders in OTIF’s work.

Lastly, OTIF and its Secretariat are involved in cooperation agreements that formalise and illustrate its role as an international forum for global rail law.
