On 27 October 2026, His Excellency Mr Vaqif Sadiqov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan, paid a visit to Mr Aleksandr Kuzmenko, Secretary General of the Intergovernmental Organisation for International Carriage by Rail (OTIF).
Mr Sadiqov, who was appointed on 4 September 2026 as Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Switzerland, wished to meet Mr Kuzmenko. Their discussion focused on OTIF, the importance of harmonised rules for international rail transport, and the close cooperation between Azerbaijan and OTIF to boost the corridors crossing the Caucasus.
The Secretary General of OTIF welcomes this appointment and once again assures Mr Sadiqov of his highest consideration.
