These decisions will follow the 20th session of the RID Committee of Experts’ standing working group, taking place on 27 May 2026. Delegations will review the draft notification texts for RID 2027, incorporating the latest outcomes from the spring session of the RID/ADR/ADN Joint Meeting.
Alongside regulatory updates, the Committee will also examine proposed amendments to its rules of procedure and the introduction of a system for the transparent registration of stakeholders.
Both sessions will be held in person in Berne, Switzerland.
The RID Committee of Experts is the organ of the Intergovernmental Organisation for International Carriage by Rail (OTIF) responsible for deciding on amendments to the Regulation concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail (RID – Appendix C to the Convention concerning International Carriage by Rail (COTIF)), a new edition of which is published every two years. Under EU Directive 2008/68 on the inland transport of dangerous goods, the provisions of RID must also be applied to domestic transport within EU Member States, so amendments to RID have a direct impact on their national legislation.
