The session will focus on the proposed amendments to the 2027 and 2029 editions of the Regulation concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail (RID), the Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) and the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Inland Waterways (ADN). In particular, delegations will examine all the draft amendments for the 2027 edition of RID for which no final decision was taken at the Joint Meeting in September 2025.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Other topics dealt with will include:
\n\u2022 Regulatory simplification for tanks to reduce the risk of disruption to intermodal transport operations and support the industry. This simplification follows the abolition of dual certification for tanks, which is scheduled for 1 January 2030.
\n\u2022 The option of additional packaging for the carriage of lithium and sodium ion batteries intended for disposal or recycling. This option anticipates future increases in this type of battery.
\n\u2022 Definition of the terms of reference of the informal working group on improving the accident report.
\n\u2022 Conditions for exempting the transport of dangerous goods packaged for retail sale between distribution centres and retailers or end consumers (last-mile delivery).<\/p>\n

At the plenary session, the working group on standards will report on its conclusions discussed outside the Joint Meeting.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Lastly, in parallel with the plenary session, the working group on tanks will meet to carry out a preliminary examination of the documents concerning tanks.<\/p>\n

The RID\/ADR\/ADN Joint Meeting is jointly organised twice a year by the Secretariat of OTIF and the UNECE Transport Division. Its aim is to harmonise the dangerous goods provisions for land transport (rail, road, inland waterways).
