The session will focus on the proposed amendments to the 2027 editions of the Regulation concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail (RID), the Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) and the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Inland Waterways (ADN).<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Some of the issues being dealt with include:
\n\u2022 Elimination of the dual approval of tanks as portable tanks according to Chapter 6.7 and as tank-containers according to Chapter 6.8 of RID\/ADR;
\n\u2022 Extension of the inspection interval from ten to fifteen years for large cylinders made of seamless steel, which are elements of battery-powered vehicles;
\n\u2022 Mandatory marking of extra-large tank-containers for the carriage of liquefied, refrigerated liquefied or dissolved gases with an orange band;
\n\u2022 Continuation of the discussion on facilitating the transport of dangerous goods “over the last mile” and
\n\u2022 Amendments to Special Provision 666 for the carriage of vehicles and battery-powered equipment.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
At the plenary session, the working group on standards will report on its conclusions discussed prior to the Joint Meeting.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Lastly, in parallel with the plenary session, the working group on tanks will meet to carry out a preliminary examination of the documents concerning tanks.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The decisions taken by the Joint Meeting should come into force on 1 January 2027.<\/p>\n

The RID\/ADR\/ADN Joint Meeting is jointly organised twice a year by the Secretariat of OTIF and the UNECE Transport Division. Its aim is to harmonise the dangerous goods provisions for land transport (rail, road, inland waterways).
