This workshop looked at the major logistical challenges of multimodal transport and Mr Kuzmenko led the discussions of Group C on the role of rail transport in international multimodal transport.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Rail transport plays an important role in international multimodal transport, especially as it is a &#8220;clean&#8221; mode of transport that is perfectly suited to the current climate challenge. Moreover, strengthening and increasing the presence of rail transport in international multimodal transport also means contributing to the flexibility and logistical efficiency of goods movements in world trade. Nevertheless, the rail sector and public policies must move towards greater interoperability and less regulatory fragmentation.
